Basic version: machined on one side, no shaping
This is the basic version of the WKidea wooden-handle utility knife. On the regular models the wood covers are cut into a shape; on the basic version the cover is machined on one side only and stays flat, with no shaping. That is why it is part of our Sustainable Picks, offered at a lower price.
Specifically: the body is an OLFA SAC-1, the cover is domestic Taiwan incense cedar, it comes in a black paper box and ships from stock in 2–3 business days.
Domestic Taiwan incense cedar cover
Taiwan incense cedar is a conifer native to Taiwan with a fine grain. Each handle comes from a different piece of wood, so grain and color vary.
Knots and grain variation are features of natural wood, not defects.
CNC-machined on one side
WKidea uses only CNC subtractive machining, cutting the cover from a solid block of wood, with no injection molding. The basic version is machined on one side only, with no shaping cuts.
How to use
01 Push the slider on the body to extend the blade, only as far as you need.
02 When you are done, retract the blade completely.
03 When not in use, store it in the black paper box.
Four-step natural beeswax care
Retract the blade before care:
01 Wipe the handle with a lint-free cloth.
02 Apply a little natural beeswax evenly.
03 Leave it for ten minutes or overnight so the beeswax soaks in.
04 Wipe off excess beeswax with a lint-free cloth.
Beeswax for care: WKidea natural beeswax. Avoid long sun exposure and humid storage.

Q: How soon does it ship?
A: It is in stock and ships 2–3 business days after you order.
Q: Will the wood grain look exactly like the photos?
A: No. Each handle comes from a different piece of wood, so grain and color vary; the photos are for reference only.
Q: How is it packaged?
A: In a black paper box.
Practice makes perfect
WKidea approaches woodworking in the spirit of the old oil seller's tale: no shortcuts, only repeated practice. We use only CNC subtractive machining, and our founder Willy Kang has been an officially certified Autodesk Fusion instructor since 2017.
