The light switch is the most-touched spot on any wall. This plate is CNC-cut from domestic Taiwania and encloses the entire switch; even the switch cover you press is solid wood, so every time you turn a light on or off, your finger touches Taiwanese timber.

02 / MATERIAL

Taiwania | Domestic Material

Taiwania (Taiwania cryptomerioides), also known in Taiwan as Ya-shan, is a conifer that grows in Taiwan's mountain forests. Its straight grain alternates between reddish-brown and golden bands, recording each year of growth. We use domestic timber so Taiwan's wood is put to good use, with less shipping across oceans.

Each plate comes from a different part of the log, so color and grain vary from piece to piece. Knots and grain differences come from growth-ring width and the position of heartwood and sapwood. They are natural character, not defects.

03 / CRAFT

CNC subtractive machining × flagship three-round sanding

WKidea CNC-cuts the frame and switch cover from solid Taiwania (subtractive machining, no injection molding), then finishes the surface by hand. This item uses our "Flagship Craft" process, three rounds in total:

• Round 1 | Mist with alcohol to raise the wood fibers → sand 240→400 grit → hand-wax for initial protection.
• Round 2 | Mist with alcohol → sand 400→600 grit → hand-wax for added protection.
• Round 3 | Mist with alcohol → 600-grit finishing → hand-wax for the final polish.

This version brings two improvements based on your feedback: a smaller gap, with the fit between plate and switch re-tuned so the Taiwania grain runs more continuously across the wall; and magnetic clips, replacing the old plastic clips so the frame snaps into place and comes off easily.

After receiving your order we select the wood for your gang count, CNC-cut it and complete the three-round finish, shipping in about 5 business days (excluding holidays). If you need delivery by a specific date, please check with us on LINE before ordering.

The wood encloses the whole switch assembly, and each gang count is cut separately, so the parts are not interchangeable and cannot be fitted to GLATIMA or other switches. Photos show the 1-Gang model.

06 / HOW TO USE

Installation and safety notes

01　Switch off the power to the circuit.
02　Wire the included Deco Lite switch and screw it to the wall box with the WT3700 metal frame.
03　Bring the Taiwania frame close; the magnetic clips locate it automatically.
04　To remove, simply pull the frame away from the wall.

07 / CARE

Care

01　Wipe the item with a lint-free cloth.
02　Apply a small amount of natural beeswax evenly over the surface.
03　Leave it for ten minutes or overnight so the beeswax can soak in.
04　Remove excess beeswax with a lint-free cloth to finish.

FAQ

Q: Which frame and switch does it fit?
Panasonic WT3700 metal frame only, with the included Panasonic Deco Lite WTDF5152K (1-Gang), WTDF5252K (2-Gang) or WTDF5352K (3-Gang) luminous switch.

Q: Are the switch and frame included?
Yes. The box contains the Taiwania frame, Taiwania switch cover, Panasonic Deco Lite luminous switch, WT3700 metal frame and screws.

Q: Can I swap in a GLATIMA switch or a different gang count?
No. The wood encloses the whole switch assembly and each gang count is cut separately, so only the included Deco Lite switch can be used.

Q: Can I install it myself?
Installation involves household wiring. We recommend a licensed electrician, and the power must be switched off first.

Q: How do I remove the magnetic frame?
The frame is held by magnetic clips. Simply pull it away from the wall; no tools needed.

Q: Can I see the switch in the dark?
Yes. The luminous indicator of the Deco Lite switch is still visible with the wood switch cover installed.

Q: How long until it ships?
This item is made to order and ships in about 5 business days (excluding holidays).

Q: Will the grain match the photos?
Not exactly. Every piece of Taiwania differs in grain and color; photos show the 1-Gang model.

Q: What is the difference between 1-, 2- and 3-Gang?
The number of switches and the matching switch model. Prices are NT$1,280, NT$1,580 and NT$1,880; the wood parts are not interchangeable.
