Exchanging a business card is the most critical "first-impression ritual" in any business encounter. We drew inspiration from this, translating the respect embedded in Japanese business etiquette into a concrete design language.
Our proprietary patented side-push structure lets the lid open not outward, but slide inward. This inward motion symbolizes restraint and humility, turning your respect and regard for the other person into an unhurried, elegant gesture. Through this understated slide, WKidea hopes to make a business card more than a cold piece of information — but a warm, humble gesture of hospitality.

Taiwan Hinoki | Domestic Wood
A business card with warmth. We chose domestic Taiwanese wood, deeply connected to this land, as the home for this business card holder. When a card sits for a while inside the warm wooden box, it quietly absorbs the wood's distinctive natural scent. This one is made from Taiwan hinoki, a wood with a distinct natural scent — the moment you hand over your card, a faint hinoki fragrance comes along with it. This invisible olfactory memory not only deepens the professional impression you leave, but quietly conveys Taiwan's distinctive warmth as well.
Taiwan hinoki is a conifer native to Taiwan; the piece shown has a golden color and fine grain.

- Patented sliding mechanism｜A fan-shaped rail and high-precision magnetic positioning create a steady, damped feel. Every side-push glides smoothly and precisely with no slipping — opening it is a pleasure in itself.
- Built to last｜No springs or clasps — an all-solid-wood structure eliminates metal fatigue and looseness. Built to stand the test of time, with a feel that stays consistent.
- Hidden curved slope｜A subtle internal slope gently lifts the last card for easy retrieval — a detail that keeps your business exchange unhurried from start to finish.
The structure is based on WKidea utility patents M481906 and M469193. The body is CNC-machined from a solid block of Taiwan hinoki (subtractive machining, no injection molding), then hand-finished with our three-round "flagship" process:
- Round 1｜Alcohol mist to raise the wood fibers → sanding 240→400 grit → hand-applied wax.
- Round 2｜Alcohol mist → sanding 400→600 grit → hand-applied wax.
- Round 3｜Alcohol mist → 600-grit refinement → hand-applied wax and final polish.

01 Press the lid with your left thumb and slide it gently toward yourself along the slope (symbolizing restraint and humility).

Opening direction
• The lid slides inward, toward you — it does not flip open outward. Please do not pry it upward.
A gentle reminder
• No structure, however precise, can prevent slippery hands! Please hold your precious hinoki card holder securely.

Care
01 Wipe the card holder with a lint-free cloth.
02 Apply a small amount of natural beeswax evenly onto the wood surface.
03 Let it rest for ten minutes or overnight so the beeswax can absorb.
04 Wipe off any excess beeswax with a lint-free cloth.

Not easily. The second generation has traditional rounded edges and a fairly symmetrical shape, so we suggest using the free laser engraving as a direction mark. If you want to tell the direction without engraving, choose the third-generation geometric model (Taiwan incense cedar or Taiwan stout camphor).
Q: Will the grain match the photos?
Not exactly. Taiwan hinoki is a natural wood, so every piece differs slightly in grain and color — a natural characteristic, not a defect.

The second generation has traditional rounded edges, so the body and lid look fairly symmetrical and the sliding direction is not obvious at a glance without engraving. We suggest using the free laser engraving to put a name, brand or message on the lid, which also serves as a direction mark.
